Afternoon Tea and a Talk ... about Cherokee Storytelling & the Power of Poetry

Afternoon Tea and a Talk ... about Cherokee Storytelling & the Power of Poetry In-Person

Come and have an afternoon tea with two local authors, a father and daughter, and besides some delicious treats, you'll sample the unique storytelling style of the Cherokee, stir in some Irish lore, and have a sprinkle of poetry.

Crowdancing and the Cherokee Storyteller's Bag by Dr. Mark Hilliard is a historical narrative about Cherokee life in the 1600s in East Tennessee and North Carolina and blends in Irish history and fantasy as well.

His story takes you into the midst of ancient Cherokee ceremonies; into the enchanted lands of faerie and fae and dragon and crow; into the hiding places of the Little-People of the Cherokee; into the homes of the Faerie-Folk of Ireland, and near and far beyond.

Mark's daughter, Jessa Hilliard Sexton, will share her passion for poetry and the relevance she feels it has today. Her latest book, Light, is a compilation of 40 poems and a week of devotions. Jessa is a Spring Hill High School graduate and went on to become a professor of writing and literature and then worked as a editor and publisher. She is now a senior writer with Ramsey Solutions.
