Meet the Animators

Meet the Animators In-Person

We're bringing together five highly successful artists who have worked on popular animated films and cartoons such as Lion King, Mulan, Pocahontas, Secret of Nimh, American Tale, & Veggie Tales!  They'll describe their experiences and give live drawing demos.  After the panel discussion you can talk with them individually and their books and fun merchandise will be for sale.

You'll meet Tim Hodge, who worked on Disney features such as The Lion King, Mulan, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear, and directed episodes of VeggieTales. Tim freelances storyboards, illustrations, and teaches at Lipscomb University.

Also on the panel will be John Pomeroy, who started at Disney on Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger Too and worked for Don Bluth Studios on Secret of Nimh, American Tale, and Land Before Time. He returned to Disney and worked on Pocahontas, Atlantis, and Fantasia 2000. John freelances for various studios and also teaches animation at Lispsomb University.

Scott Sava is an illustrator, author of children's books and graphic novels, and is an animated film director. He is creator of the popular internet series, Dreamland Chronicles, and he directed the soon-to-be released animated feature, Animal Crackers. He's working on his next film and freelances as well.

Disney animator Tom Bancroft created Mushu, the Mulan character. He also worked on Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear. He also directed several The Larry Boy cartoon episodes. Tom is head of the Animation Program at Lipscomb University and co-host of The Bancroft Brothers Animation Podcast.

If you love VeggieTales' Larry the Cucumber, you're going to love Mike Nawrocki. He's the co-creator of the popular VeggieTales series and the voice of Larry the Cucumber. He was also writer and director for most of the Silly Songs with Larry segments and author of the Dead Sea Squirrels series. . He teaches writing at Lipscomb's Cinemantic Arts Program and is Assistant Professor of Film & Animation.
