Autism & the Law 101 In-Person
Did you know that individuals with disabilities, including autism, are seven times more likely to have encounters with law enforcement than neurotypical children and adults? This presentation is intended to provide an overview of the common legal issues these families with children and adults on the spectrum may face. We will also discuss the way to be an advocate both in and out of the courtroom when working with lawyers, judges, and legal advocates. A list of local resources will be provided, including Tennessee attorneys and special needs advocates with experience working with neurodivergent individuals in the court and school systems.
