The Leading Lady of Rippavilla Presented by Eric Jacobson In-Person
You are probably familiar with the Rippavilla Plantation on Hwy 31, but you most likely don't know about a remarkable woman that lived there a century ago, Susan Peters McKissack Cheairs. A mother of five, she had a major influence on the Spring Hill community in the late 1800s, but little has been known about her ... until now. We're excited to have Civil War author Eric Jacobson give us a better picture of her life, pulled from other people's writings, and how she went from being extremely wealthy to living on rations by the end of the Civil War.
